What is required to become a mentor of the Blockbuster Bootcamp?
- Mentors are experienced either in the field of movie or startup business (within these fields all roles you can imagine are welcome to participate)
- Mentors have the mindset of an innovator and an entrepreneur (“Every problem is actually a solution in disguise”)
- Mentors are strong believers in startup-thinking and lean product development (create consecutive prototypes, use customer feedback, rework repeatedly, do smart budgeting).
What are mentors asked to do?
- Mentors are invited by the founders of the BlockbusterBootcamp to influence its processes. We will continuously provide mentors with background information or drafts and invite them to (online or hands on) workshops to pick up their brains.
- Authors/teams stay completely in charge to do their hard and challenging job. Mentors are not an additional working resource.
- Authors/teams evolve their projects from script to blockbuster throughout four consecutive stages. During the first stage (Scouting) mentors are asked to screen the submitted projects, preselect and eventually vote for Blockbuster Bootcamp candidates.
- During the following three stages (Incubation, Garage, Rehearsal) mentors challenge and foster their favorite teams. Mentors share their know how, give feedback and help letting things happen. Occasionally, a mentor might join one of the teams to become part of the project.
- At the end of each stage mentors vote for their candidates to create a funnel of candidates for a blockbuster production.
How much time does a mentor have to invest?
- It is up to the mentors to decide how much time they want to invest.
- Some mentors are just poster girls or boys promoting the Blockbuster Bootcamp. Most mentors work frequently on Blockbuster Bootcamp projects with a manageable invest of time. Some mentors possibly become blood brothers of one of the projects.
Do mentors get paid for their effort?
- No.
- Mentors are privileged to get connected to great authors/projects/entrepreneurs that combine high concept, big market and fair budgets and who are keen on audience feedback.
- The time mentors invest is paid back by inspiration, networking and awesome chances to attend thrilling blockbuster productions.
